Hi, my pc has an intel core i5 4690 and an Asus GTX 970. Currently I have one 23" 60hz monitor. I'm looking for an upgrade. My plan is to play upcoming games like Fallout 4 and the new Farcry. I plan on putting speakers around my table for a sort of surround sound system while I play games. However, I don't know what will be better for this, 3 24" 60hz or 144hz monitors, or one say 27" 144hz monitor. I just want to have a bit more realism in the game if you know what i'm talking about I just don't know which setup would work better specially with the GPU I have. Thanks

I game on 3 screens at 6040x1080 (bezel corrected), and I can honestly say, it's absolutely amazing.

If you do decide to go with 3 screens, you'll want to make sure that all 3 are EXACTLY THE SAME MODEL. Not even a year's difference, nothing, they need to be exactly the same. If they aren't, you will see things in slightly different colors and with slightly different response speeds. Doesn't sound like much, but after about an hour, it will drive you nuts... trust me.

The size of the monitor does not change the number of pixels on the screen, so a 1080p 23" monitor will perform the same as a 1080p 27" monitor. The 970 can handle most games maxed out up to 60fps, but I dont know how it performs with a 144hz screen, and Fallout is definitely going to be very graphics demanding. If you did go for the three monitors, I would not suggest getting 144hz screens, as your GPU would struggle putting out that many frames at a reasonable graphics setting. So, if you want maxed out frames go for one big 144hz monitor. If you want a three screen experience and dont mind dialing down the graphics a bit go for three 60fps screens, but this option will probably cost a bit more.

What makes you say that?

3 60hz screens are great on a single 970. I know because that's my system.

Oh awesome thanks for the quick responses everyone! I wish I could try triple monitor setup just to see what it looks because it would be awesome to own one. If I was to get triple 144hz though, (I DONT want to buy 60hz monitors I own one and I think i'm pretty done with 60hz) could I get another 970 for dual 970's and then I get higher frames so it's worth it? And if I go with a single 27" monitor which would you recommend? Ive been looking at g-sync so if it could have that it would be great

If you honestly believe that you can tell the difference between 60 and 120FPS... This is a LONG DEBATED TOPIC, check youtube. Typically the response is: the human eye won't notice a difference between 60 and 120 frames per second... In actuality, only a trained eye, that has a ton of experience at both, will be able to tell the difference.

It sounds better on a message board, but in terms of cost and practicality... it's up to you.

Just do what makes you happy with this situation that your wallet will allow.

Why have three monitor for game when you can buy one Acer XR34 with G Sync 100Hz.. and no bezilers to deal with , you can add additional monitor if you like but not needed in my opinion

Why have 3 monitors? Because it's amazing.

I was originally thinking about three monitors I didn't want to settle for lower res my option was a 3 x XB270HU 27 inch but I really need at least 2 ti to power it .. Looks expensive .. So I went the Ultra Wide route ..Just FYI ..

Sorry I was referring to 1440 ,, I feel single Ultra wide is a better choice, i feel if you have 3 x 2k (1440p) .. the preferential monitor you would not see in a game and there are the black bars .. The Ultra Wide either 1080 or 1440 you have good angle of coverage .. Just my opinion
