3 Pin Molex to 6 Pin

Hello!
I've recently just purchased an MSI 7850. I started fitting it and then I realised I needed to use the Molex to 6 Pin adaptor which looks like this.

Do I need to plug both of them in to the PSU or can I just put one in?

Use them both. Follow the yellow wires - those are the voltage lines - you need +v on the two pins of the six pin.

Can I ask what would happen if you only used one?

You probably would not have enough power to get the cpu to run. The pci-e lane provides 75w and the six pin provides 75w. The 7850 is a 130w card and if you only used one of the molex, you would only get ~38w on the six pin - not enough to make the card run. Also, and I don't know for sure, but I think the card expects voltage on both pins.
