Question Samsung G61SD Can’t get monitor to display PC

Friend just got this monitor. All options are greyed out in the OSD, he’s tried turning off and on the pc and monitor, reseating cables, he tried an HDMI cable but I’m not sure if he used a 2.1.

I would appreciate any help. I’ve tried everything I can google and I’m stumped.

Monitor:
include the age of the PSU apart from it's make and model. BIOS version for your motherboard at this moment of time.

I’ve tried everything I can google and I’m stumped.
To avoid a repeat of things that didn't work, what have you tried?

If your friend has a discrete GPU in his system, have you made sure the cable is plugged into discrete GPU's port and not the motherboard's rear I/O display ports?

The display should've come with cables out of the box, either the DP cable or the HDMI cable should work.
