Hello!

I'm building a PC and I already purchased:
2 x GTX 980 Ti 6GB K|NGP|N
Asus X99-DELUXE
CM Storm Trooper

I'd like to have 3 monitors running at 4K so I'd need a third card too. Should I get a kingpin again and can there be cooling problems?

Hey NearlyPerfect,
Appropriate name as your PC is nearly perfect. Hey so yes for 3x4K monitors you'd definitely need a third card. So, since you already have 2x Kingpins, just get a third if you can but 3x4K was a struggle for 4x Titan Xs still so with 980Tis you'd need to Overclock a lot and also if you can watercool, I'd suggest doing so. Keep the temps cool. But in air cooling there should be only 1-4˚C change in temp. Otherwise, no, no real problems for cooling.

You can get any GTX 980 Ti, but id still reccomend the KingPin as it will make sure there aren't any compability issues
But with 3 acx coolers you will have a very difficult time trying to exhaust the heat away from the cards, so try your best to have good airflow in the case

Thank you for the answers. I guess I should have mention that I don't have much experience with overclocking.

Also, if 3x4K wouldn't work, will there be any compatibility issues with one 4K and 2 x 1080p?

I just saw that my power supply doesn't support a third video card. I know I could easily change it but since 3x4K doesn't seem so easy I'd like to ask again, will there be any compatibility issues with one 4K and 2 x 1440p monitors?
