yea, and 2 590's is like 4 580's, but it only takes up 2 PCI-E slots. This way he gets 4-way sli with 2 cards, allowing room for the sound card and wireless card.

Yeah that is a good idea with having more room, but if my memory serves, the 590's don't scale as well as the 580's. But I could be wrong.

Hello everyone, thanks again for all the posts. I considered the 590s but as jrwizbang mentioned, I also read with their lower clock speed they dont scale well. I'm going to stick with sli 580s for now. I think for one 2560x1600 monitor this should be fine. I've made some changes based on everyones suggestions and some more research. Please criticize

Im running a 50ft cat6 ethernet cord (had to run outside) to deal with my internet situation. I've done speedtests and no matter how much money i spend on my wireless router it seems wired is faster and more stable. So the wifi card is no longer necessary.

However, I still want a motherboard that can run 2 580s at x16x16.. Done some searching on these forums and although there is very little performance difference from x16x16 vs x8x8 on one 2560x1600 monitor, I want it for the future. Here is the motherboard I'm thinking of going with -

gonna take bejabbers suggestion on the m4's and ram selection. I like that psu you selected also but am wondering if it is necessary if i stick with just 2 580s.. What does everyone think of this one? (saw it on a toms system builder)

Finally, so many different opinions on the 800d case! Still a little undecided on case, but leaning toward mjmj's suggestion.

Let me know what you guys think

if you go with dual 580s instead of 590s, you might consider looking into a solid water cooling setup, so you can keep everything seriously cool. In which case, the EVGA hydro copper 2 GTX 580s would be wise investments.

^+1 Water cooling is the way to go if you have the $$$ and if you know what your doing, because if it's not setup correctly, bye bye $3000. On a brighter note, it's actually really hard to mess up, so don't worry. Also, if you hadn't looked at any yet, a few after market case fans would be a good idea. If you really want to go over kill, grab 1-2 of these. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835706015&Tpk=252%20cfm Just be careful that you don't cut your fingers off lol.

hey guys,

so i pulled the trigger tonight and submitted my order. Thanks for all the suggestions and help. I used a mix of many posters suggestions and my own research to make the final decision. I will certainly need help when putting this together next week so ill be right back on this forum. I'll post pics when i get everything sent.

A big part of my decision was ease of install bc this is my first build. Water cooling was a little too intimidating for me. However, BeJabbers your rig looks sick!

Order sent so no criticizing anymore! :
