Hey guys.

So basically, I've bought a used 3060 Ti today, but it has issues. When playing games, my screen is flashing and then the driver crashes. I reached out to the guy whom I purchased the GPU from and he says he knows an IT dude who suggested me to underclock the memory by -800 and claims that this is normal with some cards. This did actually fix the issue and now no crashes and everything seems to be working fine (FPS dipped a bit though). My question is, should I still insist on returning the card or is that IT guy right? Is it normal and will my GPU last long enough or does this mean the memory chip is dying?

Thanks in advance.

Yeah, bad alright. I guess through the last year or two they would still make their money back selilng defective GPU's whilst there's a shortage.

But like you say, kinda hit and hope. Not good for the consumer.

Yep. Anyways, I will either sell this card and inform the buyer he can change those chips or do it myself. Will post the results here, thank you guys!

Another option, how close are you to Duluth or Marietta? I say that because I shop at my local Microcenter occasionally and just went on their website and those are two locations in GA where they show as having stores. Picture basically a store the size of a Walmart with nothing but computers and parts, and competitive with online pricing. In fact if they have the same part as Amazon or Newegg I think they will price match them. If you are still uneasy you could grab a new card, have the old one fixed and sell it as repaired and maybe get a bit more for it.

You can actually go to Microcenter.com and select the location and you should be able to see what that particular store has in stock, and even reserve it before you drive over.

Nah man I’m far from Duluth or Marietta, my country is the one that is closer to Russia and these countries, no such stores here available unfortunately and shipping from US means a lot of taxes, so basically better to buy some cards here (and one of the reasons why I buy used cards, much cheaper and never had issues apart from this card). Thank you for the suggestions though, I appreciate it!
