[SOLVED] 3080 Ti Pricing

I have a question about 3080Ti pricing. Here are two snips that I took. One is from my local Microcenter @MSRP and one is from eBay (Scalped)

The scalped one was probably bought months ago and never sold. So, they're lowering the price. While the manufacturers updated their MSRP to match scalper prices from earlier in the year.

Those are two different cards Zotac (at Microcenter) vs Gigabyte (on eBay). The Gigabyte 3080 TI Eagle shows a MSRP of $1199 ($1700 at scalper price on eBay).

Microcenter lists 4 Gigabyte 3080 TI cards from $1480 to $1650. The Gigabyte 3080 TI Gaming OC is still the same MSRP price I paid in June.

Microcenter has 2 ASUS 3080 TI cards at $1900 and $2000.

The eBay scalper prices for COMPARABLE Gigabyte or ASUS cards are much higher than MSRP. If you can find one at MC or Best Buy you'll normally pay MSRP...

You can't compare 3080 TI cards between manufacturers or different models for the same manufacturer.

But there is any performance difference, and they are both triple fan cards. Normally there would be <5% performance difference

Various cards have different power connections, different cooling - I would not assume that just because two cards have triple fans that the cooling is equivalent. The founders edition 3080 TI cards are in between 3080 and 3090 in size and potentially cooling. The 3080 TI and 3090 power demands are the same at 350 watts at stock settings.

Some cards come overclocked from the factory and this does have direct performance impact. Possibly different power connections might allow for additional user-overclocking. Gigabyte cards, for example, come with 2x 8-pin or 3x 8-pin connections.

Someone more familiar with high-performance GPU use might be able to comment on the 'value' of the low-MSRP 3080 TI vs the high-MSRP 3080 TI. There have always been price variations between different models of like cards (2080, 3080, 3090, etc) but the 3080 TI seems to have expanded the pricing variability.

I'm not familiar with Zotac - I have used EVGA, Gigabyte and ASUS GPUs. The fact that all of the EVGA, Gigabyte and ASUS cards are usually sold out - even the high-priced ones while the Zotac high-priced ones are in stock gives me pause. I personally wouldn't buy the Zotac for $1949 or the Gigabyte 3080 TI Eagle (MSRP $1199) for $1700 on eBay.
