32-bit or 64-bit

I have a unit with:

Processor: Intel i3-330M (2.13 GHz)
RAM: 4GB DDR3

I want to install Windows 7 but I can't decide whether to install a 32-bit Windows 7 or a 64-bit Windows 7.

Basically, I'm gonna use it for programming and graphics designing.
Also gonna play some games on it, sometimes.

I have read that the main difference of a 32-bit and 64-bit OS is that:
"The 64-bit version of Windows handles large amounts of RAM more effectively than a 32-bit system which in that case is 4GB RAM for 32-bit OS. Also, 64-bit Windows can process faster than a 32-bit Windows"

I also read this: "With 64-bit, 4GB of RAM is the new minimum standard, and with 4GB, you can run tons of applications with zero slowdown."

Some says that there's no reason to not go for a 64-bit OS.
I'm quite worried about that because I think some programming softwares can function better in 32-bit OS.

I'm really confused.
Should I go for 32-bit Windows 7 or 64-bit Windows 7?

GO with 64 bit it is the now 32 bit is tthe past!

I'm not just going for a 64-bit OS because everyone is leaning towards that direction.
I want a clarification so that I could MAXIMIZE the use of my PC.
