dear all,

I've bought a dell vostro 3750 recently and try to install windows xp on it --- since some of my old project need xp. I managed to add SATA/AHCI driver and install xp successfully, but failed to find 32bits xp drivers for many of its hardware, like video card, network, audio card ...

I find someone has faced same problem and solved not long before -- the link is here:
http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/263740-45-windows-dell-computer#t954273
But since the thread is closed, I couldn't add a words there. So I open this new thread, hope someone
who got the entire xp drivers worked for 3750 could share his drivers with me.

That's really help me a lot, and great great thanx to it. :)

Hi Richard, I have managed to install XP/32 on Dell Vostro 3750 with AHCI. I needed to create a nLite XP with "Intel(R) Mobile Express Chipset SATA AHCI Controller" in $OEM$ folder.

All drivers are working except the NVidia 525M (which is not needed in my case), are mostly from DELL, some from device manufacturers. Unfortunatelly, I did not save the download links, just the driver files, the list is below. I think you need just google for each one and download from one of the first search results. For a limited time, I provide all of them at http://www.sign.sk/pub/Vostro3750/ later today.

Best regards,

Brano (sundancer)

The list of files needed - except NVidia 525M (the one from laptop2go did not work) - therefore HDMI will not work (but I did not need that):

You are welcome. Yes, it's the Intel HD 3000 driver.

Greetings Brano Sundancer and whoever sees this,

Windows 7 does not do everything I could do with XP so I would be great-full if it would be possible for Sundancer or another gentle soul could pass on the drivers on. The link "http://www.sign.sk/pub/Vostro3750/" is not working anymore, Sundancer also only claim to provide it for a limited time, so no surprise.

Give thanks, you are most helpful, were Dell took the easy road.

Act One

you should put the system back as it was and install virtualbox and then install windows xp on that that is what i have done with my win7-64bit as i needed xp32bit (you can even intall a selection of os's if you like).

The link is available again. I will leave it there as long as possible (until I need the 348MB disk space :) ).
However, the drivers packages (from Dell and Intel) are easily to be found via Google.

Virtualization is a good workaround, but it does not solve some situation like direct access from XP to the hardware. Some people just need the XP run on "bare metal" because of HW/SW limitation of the application or connected hardware (like me and the medical hardware+software).

Best regards,

Sundancer
