Hello all,

I believe my current sticks of RAM are dying so I'll need to upgrade and buy a new pair. I've been reading conflicting things about 3200 vs 3600 for a 5800x3d so I'm not too sure which one I should be looking to buy.

If you're on a B550 chipset motherboard, look at a 2x DDR4-3600MHz tight latency ram kit. if you're on a B350/B450 chipset motherboard, then look at a 2x DDR4-3200MHz ram kit. On that regards, what is the make and model of your motherboard? BIOS version for said motherboard?

Where are you located, what is your budget and what is your preferred site for purchase? If you have a tower style air cooler, we might run in to clearance issues, meaning low height heatspreader rams are warranted.

I have a MSI B550 Tomahawk with the latest BIOS available inside a mid tower Fractal Torrent case. I live in Canada so I usually use Amazon or Newegg but I'm open to whatever is available. I've heard the 5800x3d is both memory dependent and also not. A quick look shows about a $60 difference from a 3200 to 3600 so is the performance between the two worth the price difference?

DDR4 3200 CL16 is fine for a 5800x3d. They aren't quite as ram sensitive as other Ryzen chips. This is such a great deal, though, I would stick with 3600 CL16.

Thank you for the quick help, I've been out of the RAM game for too long so its appreciated.

I am going to pick up the one you recommended or the RBG version since I've never had any RBG components and it's only 20 bucks extra.
