News 33-year-old AmigaOS for Commodore computers gets an unexpected update

"ReAction" That sounds like they took Tim Aston's 3rd party "Class Action" OO GUI libraries and renamed them. CA was by far the best Programmer's GUI toolkit back in the mid to late 90's. Far less buggy than the older MUI (Magic User Interface).

Workbench was so much better to use than Windows 95. My hope is that there is a parallel universe where they didn't mess it up and Amiga is now the dominant computer platform 😀

Hmm, might have to go looking for my Amiga VM and see if I can load 3.2. The HDD failed on my Amiga 2000 about a decade ago so it will have to be a VM.

The number "33" is a bit weird.

The Amiga is turning 40 this year, as it was first released in 1985.
AmigaOS 3.0 was released 33 years ago, back in 1992.

But the last AmigaOS released by Commodore was Amiga OS 3.1 in 1993/1994, first for the Amiga CD32. I tried it out on my A1200 back in 1994 but never burned any EEPROM with it. I think also some Amigas sold by Escom came with it.

Hyperion released "AmigaOS 3.2" in 2021. This is the fourth revision of 3.2.

It's standard IDE, if you don't want to mess with old IDE drives get an IDE to sd card adapter from ebay, that way you can setup WB on the sd card on your PC and use it on the amiga to transfer files over as well.

Also are you calling winuae an VM?! (or are you using something else)

Why do you call this update "unexpected"? There have been patches and updates for AmigaOS 3.x from various sources (not just Hyperion Entertainment) every few years.

Hyperion is operating while insolvent and has failed to file nine years' worth of accounts (2009-2014 and 2022-2024). Yet - perhaps because of that - they still found the resources to sue Amiga in 2018 in an attempt to seize its assets ( View: https://x.com/amigadocuments/status/1897157746019196951
).

The developers behind AmigaOS 3.2.3 are working for free, while Hyperion simply slaps its name on the box and the proceeds are being funneled into the lawsuit against Amiga.

For anyone who actually cares about the platform, it's as disheartening as it is infuriating. Maybe you should write an article about this?

no it is not , Amiga 2000 used SCSI drives in old times.

I gave the box to a friend to use for parts. Also, my HDD was SCSI.
