Trying to figure out the parts for a new system, I'm going to be using it as a IDS, Nas, and a some other security stuff. My current server is kind of large it uses a 4u case with 12 IDE drives in raid, it really screams though for it being IDE based but I'm looking to upgrade it because even at idle it uses 500+ watts from the wall and using it for large file transfers it peaks 700 watts.So I'm looking to do an intel based build non atom I want at least 4 gigs of ram or 8 if it can fit into the budget. I'm not super crazy about the power supply just 550w+ just because of how many sata power connectors I need and future upgrades. I'm also downgrading the case so I can retire my rack because I use 4x more electricity than my neighbors, so I'm looking for a case that can take 4-5 drives. Storage isn't included in the price, I have a raid card a $400 nic for super fast speeds, as well as some HGST 4TB drives that I already have shopped for.

it can hold 4 drives, but you can convert the DVD bay for more HDDs.
