I have a Corsair H80 cooling a 3770K CPU. It has been working fine since I installed it (several years) but suddenly for no explainable reason my CPU is hitting 100C after only a few minutes. (stock CPU speeds) I have no idea why this is happening all of a sudden but the fans on the H80 are still running. I don't know how to check if the problem is with the H80 or something else. I haven't made any changes to this system that could have caused the change. Thanks

I think the pump going bad is the likely culprit. To check for coolant loss, pop open the case, and look for signs of liquid, or if that's not visible, you'd have to take the cooler off and check the weight(would be a tad subjective, but if it lost most/all of the coolant, you'd notice it being a good bit lighter than when you installed it. For the pump, you'd have probably heard it, assuming it has a bearing in the pump. Other option, the power to the pump is not on/functioning.

Wow fast response. Thanks.

How would I check for reduced coolant. I don't really think that's the cause though. The fact that it was operating perfectly and then in an instant is now completely ineffective suggests to me it couldn't be something like reduced coolant which would be more of a gradual change to the CPU temps wouldn't you think? How would I check if the pump is dead?
