Just wondering if anyone could take a moment and try to pinpoint my problem here.

http://www.3dmark.com/3dm/4553268?

Link to the score, it says similiar systems should be scoring in the 8-9k range. I'm getting 6700. Just let me know if anything stands out to you that I might need to address. Much appreciated!

Solution
I have FX 8320 and MSI gtx 970 and I use to have the same problem that you with LOW SCORE on FIRESTRIKE.

The test was fixed after a WINDOWS UPDATE.
I don`t know if SERVICE PACK 1 or wich update did, but it worked.

Try to update windows and RE run the test.

Also use 344.16 drivers. 344.48 make my card work bad.

I hope it helps.
I did think the GPU score was reasonable but the physics score which is the processor from what I understand seemed low. The ones that scored in the 9000 a lot of them were overclocked but the 8k range were stock, so it does seem low. Temps seemed fine so I'm not thinking the cpu is throttling (60C under load), just not super exp. reading and interpreting the 3dmark score. I have the latest nvidia drivers that just came out so I don't think that is the issue. Gonna wait for another response or two hopefully before uninstalling and reinstalling drivers just yet. Thank you for the suggestion.

If all your drivers are updated properly then it is your CPU creating the lag.
I think that physics score is fine for FX 8320 considering it is running at stock speed.
You should overclock it. I'm sure you'll get to the 8k's and 9k's
Most people actually buy the FX's to overclock.
I don't have the firestirke but here is my 3Dmark 11 score--> http://www.3dmark.com/3dm11/8896764
Also Install Qwikmark and tell us how many GFLOPS it is running at.
