3D Stereo Gaming Without Expensive Shutters

Im not really impressed with 3D. I think Eyefinity has a lot more to offer (at least with gaming). Once the 3D technology is more advanced and you dont need glasses. That is when i will maybe look into it. For now I am enjoying PLAYING MODERN WARFARE 2 on THREE SCREENS (eyefinity)!!! I just made a knife throwing montage with it

It gives me a huge field of view in game and i think that is more important and immerses you more than what 3D does on 1 monitor.
 
This vs. Nvidia 3d Vision vs. ATI Solution. Looks like companies are really investing in 3D, just hope one day I can enjoy the benifits of Stereoscopic 3D without having to buy a 120hz monitor....or if 120hz monitors prices go really low. Either way would be really good as not all of us are rich and would love to dive into immersive media.

True 3D is the next field in gaming. Anyone who thinks otherwise is deluding themselves.

With current LCD monitors and the most powerful setup on the planet, your still only viewing a 2D representation of a 3D environment. The monitor becomes a ~window~ through which you view the 3D world the content creators made.

Since your brain naturally perceives depth (3D) through the differences in your two eyeballs, the quickest way to create a true 3D environment is to transmit separate images into each eyeball. The effects if done properly is amazing, but a bit disorientating the first few times you go through it. As more games build in support naively you will see better and better visualizations happen. Most importantly is support for negative Z-buffering. Traditionally Z-buffering was done as positive values only. A value of 0 represents your screen and any value less then zero would be in front of the screen and therefor not render-able to a typical 2D interface. But a 3D interface would be capable of rendering a negative Z value by correcting the separation of the two images. Games have to specifically programmed to do this, most GFX engined will just ignore any possible negative Z-buffer values.

I personally prefer the shutter glass's effect, its more definitive, especially on a high end CRT.
