hi, i have i5 3470 + gigabyte gtx 660 oc + 8gb kingston ddr. when i run 3dmark on performance (all tests) i get P6748.

i checked reviews for this card and it's always 7090-7100. am i missing something? maybe the CPU is "bottlenecking" the score?

thanks you,

Solution

That's perfect. Look at my edited previous post. You are actually above their test with cards OC'ed just as high as yours. I don't believe the other post I gave you was any different than the first one.

However, look at the red score on the chart above. That one is the GPU score. Because both scores are so close, it is easy to not be sure, but that chart leaves nothing to be unsure about.

it's the same version i also have the oc ver. and the tests shown on the review are only the graphics tests without the combined test so it's just the GPU. i got 6881 on that test and the review show 7030

Look at the top of the chart, it says those are P scores. P scores include the CPU and graphics scores in a composite score.

If it was not a composite score, the two way SLI 680's would have a score of 18000-19000, but it is only showing just over 14000.

Can you link your 3dmark11 score? You clearly are uncertain on what to compare.

Here is an example of graphics only score: http://media.bestofmicro.com/M/H/349433/original/0101%203DMark11.png

Which are much higher than what you are comparing, which makes me believe you are comparing P score to P score, which is a composite of CPU and GPU performance. If you want to see how your GPU is doing, you cannot be looking at those scores.

that's why i only ran the 1-4 tests + physics test exactly like the review tests (you can see the tests selection above the graph):

http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/gigabyte_geforce_gtx_660_windforce_oc_review,19.html

then i compared my GPU score which is 6881 to the review's which is 7030.

Just post your 3dmark11 link.

The Physics score is done by your CPU, which is different than their CPU. You need to look at the graphics scores. You clearly are not understanding me, so if you could link your score, I can look at the correct numbers.

Example:
http://www.3dmark.com/3dm11/4619711

Notice there are 4 scores.

There is a Graphics score, actually called a Graphics score.
There is a Physics score, which is determined by how my CPU does.
Then there is a Combined score, which is determined by the last benchmark they run, which tests the GPU and CPU at the same time.

The P score at the top, is a composite of all 3 of those scores and is heavily influenced by your CPU and GPU. Since you are comparing your system to one with a different CPU, you will not get the same P score as those in that benchmark.

i understood that, but the review settings score is just the graphics score as you can see the tests that they ran at the top of the graph, so im just comparing the GPU , the CPU in both scores is out of the equation.

You are clearly misunderstanding that benchmark. Let me post it here, in case this is not the one you keep talking about:
Untitled-21.png

Notice the top, where it says "P score". Anyone who has run these would know clearly the are not the graphics score, as they are way off, especially on the SLI and CrossfireX configurations.

They listed the tests, and they even include Physcs in the descriptions above the chart at the bottom of the list. There are actually 2 tests, but they were lazy and didn't describe both.

Look at your GRAPHICS SCORE, and post here, or just go away.

as i said my graphics score is 6881, if u say they did actually include the combined tests i will take your word for it cause it's not
clear from the review.
thank you for your help.

[strike]Ok, I found one, which shows you are a "little" low. (it's lower than one, higher than another)

http://static.techspot.com/articles-info/572/bench/3Dmark_02.png

Can you show your GPU-Z results? I'm most interested in the bus interface (push the ? mark next to kick it into 3D clocks).[/strike]

I wasn't sure about that review either, as it didn't specify whether it was a GPU score of total score. It had no P, so I believe it was a GPU score, but I don't think so anymore.

Here is one that labels both on the same chart:

You are good to go.
