So im currently on the edge of getting ether a gtx 1060 3gb or 6gb. I have already decided that 8gb of ram should be enoigh, but a thought accured to me that if i do end up going with the 6gb 1060, would i instead just be better off getting 8 more ram instead and the 3gb 1060? The price difference between the 3gb and 6gb gtx is generally around 60 bucks, so for just a little more i can double my ram instead. So im kust wondering which would be more worth it.

Get the 1060 6gb. The 6gb model has more cores. There is more to it than just extra VRAM. You can always add some more system RAM later, but you will need a whole new GPU to upgrade. Considering the 1060 has been out for 2 years, I would not recommend the 3gb model as it will begin to show its age sooner than later.

Also, you may want to consider the Rx 580 8gb. It has identical performance as the 1060 6gb and is in the same price range. The nice thing about the 580 is it can use free sync. So if you have a free sync monitor, it is the clear choice. The 1060 uses gsync and gsycn monitors come at a high premium.
