I still have a brand new PowerColor rx5500XT in the box I got from Amazon on 10-13-20. I'm finally opening it and pairing with a new Ryzen 5 3600x for a customer looking for a modest gaming PC. My question is how many of you would change the thermal paste right away after it's been sitting in the box almost 4 years? Or would you just put it in and only worry about it if temps were high? I know what I plan to do since it's a customer build and I don't want any issues to arise, but I'm curious what everyone else would do. Thanks

You've never had to repaste ever? Even older systems? That's wild. I'm assuming you know it dries up over time and doesn't last forever. Appreciate your response and opinion. Thanks
I would just use it.
I've never had to repast a CPU cooler or video card.

i would test the card first see if temps are fine.

depending on where its stored paste should be fine.

changing the paste can net you 5-10c depending on the cooler design.

however i wouldnt open it unless i knew what thermal pads are underneath said cooler.
