$400 Budget Upgrade Build

I am looking to upgrade my current system for better gaming performence.

My current specs are

AMD Athlon II X3 455
Asrock 970 Extreme3
Radeon 5830
4GB DDR3 1600MZ
WD 750GB Sata
750W Rosewill Hive 80+ PSU
NZXT Phantom 410 Case
Samsung 24" 1080p monitor


I have opted to go for these new specs

AMD FX-6200
XFX Radeon 7870 2GB
8GB G-Skill Ripjaws

So what I am asking is do you think I will be able to play most of Future games at high to ultra
settings at 1080p. If you recommend something better my current budget is around $400 for the
upgrades. And I will be buying these on Newegg and ebay.

Get a FX-6300 instead. If you can, try to grab the Sapphire or Powercooler Radeon HD 7870 XT. You might have to stretch your budget a little for this, but it's a huge upgrade over a regular 7870.

I at least want a 4.0GHZ CPU . My case is white and black so The powercolor wont look so good in my case. XFX looks better.

If you care about the looks more than the performance then i cannot help you, the 7870 xfx is a LOT slower than the 7870 XT. And i don't get your part about the 4.0 ghz, you do realise the 6300 is better right?

It's a bit more expensive though. Also, the FX-6300 is A LOT better than the FX-6200, despite the difference in ghz.

If you care about the looks more than the performance then i cannot help you, the 7870 xfx is a LOT slower than the 7870 XT. And i don't get your part about the 4.0 ghz, you do realise the 6300 is better right?

I don't see how a 3.5ghz beats a 4.1ghz.

If you think about it by only looking at ghz, shouldn't the FX-8350 beat every i7 and i5 cpu? Nope.

So how does the memory clock of the powercoler beats the xfx?

If you get the powercooler one, make sure it says "myst tahiti le". It uses the core of a 7950 and cut down on a couple of things. It's inbetween a 7870 and 7950 for the price of a 7870, which is why it's so good.
