Just got a 4070 Ti and I'm running a 3700X.

I did some research and found my CPU bottlenecks my GPU by up to 60%
Would i see a big difference if i upgraded to a 5900x or 5950x? Is it worth it in your opinion to stay on am4?

Ignore whatever number a bottleneck calculator gave you. Those don't provide anything meaningful.

What's your goal?
  • If you're after 4K eye candy, you likely won't need to upgrade since it'll tax the 4070 Ti plenty.
  • If you're after higher frame rates at 1080p/1440p, what are you requiring? Then test the games you want to play at the lowest quality settings to see what performance you get. If it's still more or less to what you accept, then you don't need to upgrade.

I'm after competiteve gaming high fps 2k res and 4k for future monitors. Yes i want 400fps in csgo. I have tested on low settings i only get 240 fps max low settings 1080p in csgo which isnt what i expected 2k is about 10 fps less than that of 1080p . Maybe im just stuck in the past. But i distinctly remember getting 330+ fps on my nvidia 1070 + intel 3770k 1080p build years ago.

If your PC is mainly for gaming, on the AM4 platform, the 5800x3d is probably your best option.
Thanks its actualy the same price as the 5900x ill go ahead and grab the 5800x3d
So you're going to have to upgrade the CPU.

Remember, if you want more FPS and don't care about image quality, upgrade the CPU first.
Ah thanks makes sense didnt really think about that 🤔
