Hey guys, I have this combo right now:
i5 4670, 16gb 1600, gtx 1070 ti and 1080p @60hz
And I'm wondering if it would be worth to upgrade to:
Ryzen r7 2700x, aorus x470 ultra gaming, corsair vengeance 2 x 8gb 3000 and maybe a bit latter to higher refresh rate monitor. (Sugestions are wellcome at similar price point)

I would consider i7 8700k (410 eur) or i5 8600k (310 eur) but as you can see price bites more than amd, right in the middle sits r7 2700x (~355 eur). Even 2600x is wellcome, but overall performance of 2700x is way more atractive.
So back to a question at hand - would it be worth to upgrade?
Most of the time what I'm doing is playing games (gta5, sims4, anno, gw2, eso, sc2, overwatch, diablo3, destiny 2), light foto editing and from time to time I do a video but rarely, and all the other usual stuff like netflix and web browsing.

Few more things, intel system overall price is higher, availability is bad, and if I could get it it would be without any cooler, unlike amd - plenty available and comes with cooler. (I will get a better cooler after few months, but not right now)

One more thing - I might be giving my curent cpu, mobo and ram to a friend in few days, thus the timing - cant wait till intel is available and prices drop back down.

If there is someone with r7 2700 nad 1070 ti combo it would be awesome to know your gaming fps.

Thanks!

The only thing I'll chime in on is, that the 8700k/8600k & accompanying Z370 chipset is at a deadend; zero upgrade-ability. Whereas, the AMD X470 motherboard for the 2700X you are looking has been confirmed by AMD to be supported by new/forthcoming CPUs until 2020. Just one source here; https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2018/04/19/amd-socket-am4-motherboards-support-until-2020/

However, in the interim, nearly ALL gaming benchmarks do show the Intel i7-8700k besting the AMD 2700X in most titles as it stands and is a better OC'er.

For an all around CPU, the 2700X gets the nod and that X470 has a [strike]lifespan[/strike] CPU ugrade-path for at least another two-years. But if you are more concerned with gaming and what you list and need...

IMO I'd go fer the AMD setup...

I'm not saying I'm maxing it out most of the time but for the last year if not more I feel the limit of 4 cores, few stutters here and there, tiny freezes and the time it takes to do anything quick while editing. Sure gaming is fine for the most part, but compare this cpu to something more recent and you might get surprised by performance difference. Even my 1070 ti is not reaching its full potential, for example - pair it with 4770k and the difference is 10-15%. It would sound like a good idea to just upgrade to 4770k for 150 eur, but whos to say my mobo will last that long, i had to replace it twice already.. New system just sound way better in general.
I had this cpu almost since the day one of release and believe me, I think it reached its limit with me. Oh, and as i said, I might give it to a friend, 70% to 30% chance, and I'll need other components anyway.
