4790k abnormal temperatures

I have a 4790k with stock cooler, I have a good airflow (3 case fans) my problem is that at idle it has temeratures of about 30-40c but as soon as I start rendering something it jumps up to 100c, I dont know if this is even possible for something to heat that fast, does anyone has a solution to this problem?

My motherboard is a gigabyte z97x-sli with its latest bios.

Open the case and check if the fans are fine

If the temperature rise is really instantaneous (within seconds) then you have poor contact between the heatsink and CPU. If you are using Intel's stock HSF, one or more of the pins must not have been set properly.

I already checked it and it is all set correctly, any more ideas? :/

You can try to RMA the cpu cause of high temperatures, the stock heatsink is made to work @ stock clocks

Check from BIOS , whether the CPU is overclocked . Try a normal clocking profile , if the BIOS allows it .

I overcloced it to 4.4ghz but is still shouldnt be 100 c is this the cause?

Dont ask , just turn back the stock clocks ASAP . Keep it safe !

4.4ghz 4790k with stock cooler... ofcourse you are going to get high temps.

get an aftermarket one, hyper 212 minimum
