48 gb out of 64 gb RAM

Hi there,

I have asus x99-a 3.1 usb Motherboard and 2x 4x8 GB crucial quad channel value RAM. But I get the whole 64 GB only in one out of 10 boots. So I can keep booting up till it works. But the most time only 48 GB appears, C1 and C2 clots fail. Swapping the modules changes nothing. The Slots are clean and work with other Memory fine. VOltage changing has also no Impact on the issue. I hope someone knows something...

CT4K8G4DFD8213, i know they arent on the QVL. but crucial Claims compatibilty, there are also Reviews with the same board and same RAM working good

I would check to see if there is a new bios.

Try raising the DRAM voltage + 0.05 and the VCCSA (System Agent) Voltage about + 0.10

I also tried that with no changes. The strange Thing is, that it would work, if all modules load, they stay and work without Problems, but the Thing is I Need to boot up several times, till they get recognized.

Raise the VCCSA another + 0.05

Just did. Now it is 1.0000 Volt with +0.15 Volt Offset, but nothing has changed.

checked it, also tried it on another Motherboard, same happens, so I guess it is the Memory, not Feeling comfortable in quad channel mode.

More likely the DRAM simply not wanting to play, you have 2 packages of DRAM - many do this rather than buy a full set of the entire amount to save a few dollars, th 8x8GB set often costs more than a pair of 4x8GB sets because it takes more testing and time to find 8 sticks that will all play nice, they might well have to sift through 20-30 sticks to find 8 that will all play nice together

Sure, thats right, but the funny Thing is also, when I put only one kit in the Slots, exactly the same happens with 3 out of 4 modules working. Both kits behave exactly the same way. Its always the C Slot failing. It just badgers me that in approx. one out of 10 boots it works perfectly, I can run the PC for hours or even days, if I put it to standby instead of shutting down without trouble, but if I shut down, the booting lottery proudly awaits me. I just hardly understand why it mostly does not work, but it could work.
