How well would a 4870x2 and a 4870 1gb perform together? Are they OFFICIALLY supported?

My motherboard supports both SLI and Crossfire so I'm just going to take advantage of those capabilities.

I am afraid that 4870x2 Crossfire with another 4870x2 will bottleneck my system, so Maybe trifire is the best option.

Currently 3.33ghz but willing to go up to 3.93 if temps are not too high.

Rams are currently 1333mhz at 7-7-7-20, I hope that is enough. But can put the rams up to 2000mhz 9-9-9-24

PSU coolermaster ucp ultimate 1100w.

monitor res 1920x1080 - Don't judge me! I just want the cards so they look cool together. I do plan on getting a 30 inch dell, ultrasharp maybe sometime later.

Thanks YO! :sol:

They get along just fine. It is pretty much the same thing as 3 4870's. You really really have to overclock. If temps are to high get a better cooler but you are gong to bottleneck at anything short of of 4ghz.

With a really good cooler you can get to around 4.5 on air alone.

I have that exact setup (4870x2+4870 1GB) It works great for me. I have a PII 940 slight overclock to 3.2GHZ, 8 GB DDR2, and I love it. I just got an Ultrasharp 3008WFP, and with my setup, Run everything in 2560*1600 now. I also have 2 26" viewsonics, and a 23" Acer, so when Im not in Xfire, I can use all 4 monitors fine. The reason I went with the 4870, and not another 4870x2 is all of the reviews I saw had the drop off after 3GPUs for the overhead. You should be very happy with that setup, especially only running at 1080p. When you do get the Dell, you'll REALLY love your setup!
