I have a sapphire vapor-x 4890 and it worked great out of the box and I'm using ATI's latest 9.7 catalyst drivers. I guess experience may vary depending on what brand you get. And even then you might get a lemon. Previously I bought an XFX gtx 260 but it didn't work and I RMAd then decided to go ATI. The weird thing is that the XFX 9800GT that I had been using for over 6 months before had been rock solid. So I guess it all depends.

The Sapphire's are great video cards and normally they are overclocked out of the box but they are not the BEST ATI cards in my opinion....And once the warranty is over, you are basically on your own if anything happens to the card.....

I have used Sapphire in the past, but am very happy with XFX now (bought for the double lifetime warranty) which unfortunately, conked out a little over a month after I got it, well, one GPU did, anyhow. Fortunately, I chose XFX, and was pleasently surprised with their lack of questioning and fairly speedy RMA time (9 business days on cheapest to-them shipping option). My replacement is a champ. 😀

I have never had a Sapphire card give me a single issue. My previous 3 cards are all still alive and running well in friend's boxes. I just switched to XFX for the warranty.
