Hello guys:

Just about to get my new video card soon, (MSI GeForce GTX 980 Ti 6G), and thinking of getting a new computer case to replace the XB ( something with case filters? )

Wondering when it will be time to update. System is a few years old, but I have updated many components since I build it, and replaced the cooling to a water system. Works fine, OC'ed to 4.4 Ghz (can go higher)

Skipped the 5930k, 5960x, series, now wondering if now that Broadwell / Skylake is finally out, is now the time to update?

I currently do rendering etc., in the background, while gaming. Will there be anything "Extreme" hex or quad coming out soon?

Not looking at wasting money, but do want to stay current.

Thanks and Cheers 🙂

Solution
Well if that roadmap is accurate, there's going to be no Broadwell-E and Skylake-E will be coming out sometime in the second half of next year, so it looks like you're going to be sitting on what you have for another year.
If you don't want to go for Haswell-E, you're probably going to be waiting a while. The next Intel enthusiast release is a bit up in the air right now, with rumours abound that Broadwell-E might be skipped and we'll see Skylake-E late next year, or that Broadwell-E will be next year and Skylake-E won't be until 2017. The mainstream Intel CPUs out right now aren't much faster than what you have right now, so you might as well stick with what you have for at least another year.

Thank you Supernova1138

Wow that was fast, wasn't even finished posting before you answered, lol.

I didn't see that much of a difference between the 4930k and 5930k (sweet spot), but on the chip-set (motherboard) side there defiantly was many updates.

I keep finding charts like above, with little or no info listed. Skylake-E is sort of like a unicorn to me, I have heard rumors but......
