4GB and 2GB DDR3 Modules working in Dual Channel mode?!

Check my PC specs in my signature. I added a Corsair 4GB DDR3 1333 stick today and according to CPU-Z its running at dual channel mode along with my old Dynet 2GB stick. Can this even be possible?

Yes, ... sort of.

Check your motherboard manual. I suspect it will say that your original 2gb and the first 2gb of the 4gb stick will operate in dual channel mode, and that the unmatched odd 2gb will be in single channel mode.

Not to worry, the 2100 is insensitive to ram speeds anyway, and going from 2gb to 6gb will be a big performance plus.

It is defiantly possible. As long as the ram runs at same speed it should work. o and i am running 12gb corsair vengeance 3 sticks of 4gb in dual channel strange

I think something's wrong with CPU-Z.
My BIOS reports :

Channel1 A Slot 0 : Corsair 4GB xxxxxxx
Channel1 B Slot 0 : Hyundai Electronics 2GB xxxxxxx

Shouldn't it be A for both if they work in dual channel mode?

My cpu-Z v1.57 does not seem to say anything about single/dual channel. Did I miss something?

I would have thought that you should use one stick in channel1 and the other in channel 2.

Read the motherboard manual which should tell you how to install two mismatched sticks.

1. I use CPU-Z 1.59
Check the Memory tab.

2. My motherboard has only 2 slots, anyway.

I updated to 1.59, I see dual now. Thanks.

With two slots filled, you should be using dual channel... mostly. The way the chipsets work, I think the odd 2gb will operate in single channel, but I can see how cpu-z will not bother to expand on that detail.
