4GB out of 8GB detected on Windows 7 Home Premium

As the title says, windows is only showing that I have 4GB of RAM installed when in fact, I have 8GB of RAM installed. I am using 2 Corsair XMS DDR3 RAM units on my motherboard. My motherboard is a Gigabyte F2A88X-D3H. My CPU is an AMD A10-5800K. And my display device or graphics card is a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 750. The RAM units are seated in the 1 and 3 RAM slots on the motherboard. If I only use one of the RAM units, it shows that I have 4GB fully functional as it should, but if I use both RAM units, it only shows 4GB as being installed. CPU-Z detects both of the units and shows that 8GB of RAM are installed as it should. So what's the issue?

Yes, both sticks are identical and are placed in the same colored slot, which is black.

If that doesn't change anything try one stick at a time

If your version of Windows 7 Home Premium is the 32bit version, then it only supports up to 4GB of ram. That could be your issue.

Yeah IF ts 32-Bit thats your issue.

Sounds like the RAM may be bad then, try running a memory test.

This is a long shot, but go to Start>Run and type in MSCONFIG.EXE, then hit Enter. Go to the Boot tab, click on Advanced Options, then see if Maximum Memory is set to 4GB or 4096MB.

Thats not a bad idea. good thinking, its worth a try.

Installing each stick one at a time is a memory test.

The pc booted up each time you tied a different stick of ram right?

So it seemed the issue fix was just to fiddle with the RAM seating a little more. Thank you all very much for your time. I hope this helps someone in the future.
