Hi..
Which will give me better fps in games

4gb ram 1600mhz (single) vs 6gb ram 1333mhz(dual)

Which combination is useful to get better fps in games

Please help

Welcome to the forums my friend!

Dual Channel trumps higher speed in single channel.
Dual channel effectively doubles your bandwidth of data transfer.

Opt for Dual Channel over Single Channel.

You mean 6gb ram ( dual) better for gaming
But 6gb ram (dual) frequencies is low 1333mhz

It depends on the game. Some games work better with higher speed ram. Even a 1333 to 1600 difference is noticeable.

Single channel and dual channel are no different in ability unless you can manage to saturate the single channel bandwidth, in which case dual channel can show upto @ 20% performance increase. But without that saturation, they are equitable. That's when speeds and timings will play a role, a 1333 C7 is a hair faster than 1600 C9, but 1333 C8 is a hair slower than 1600 C9.

To be honest, I've never seen 6gb in dual channel, that'd be a 4Gb and 2Gb sticks, of which 2+2 would be in dual channel only with the remaining 2Gb (on the 4Gb stick) in single channel (flex mode)

This would make the single channel 4Gb 1600 faster still.

6gb trumps 4gb.
1333 in dual channel runs at effective 1333.
1600 speed in single channel will run at effective 800.

What exactly is your motherboard and ram?
There are no 3gb ram sticks, so to get 6gb, you are probably using a 4fb stick and a 2gb stick.
In that case on an intel motherboard, the matching 4gb will operate in dual channel mode and the odd 2gb will operate in single channel mode.
This is called flex mode.

I think the 6gb option will be better.
On balance, from a speed point of view it makes little fps difference unless you are using integrated graphics.

Test both and see in your system, run some benchmarks. RAM is easy to change then run some tests.

If you run PassMark you will get both a RAM score and a video score, see how them match. I suggest 3 runs in each configuration, with a reboot between each run, so 6 runs total. Average the 3 results for each to get the score.

I would not use 6 GB, use either dual 4gb or dual 2 gb matching sticks.
