It depends on the game. Some games work better with higher speed ram. Even a 1333 to 1600 difference is noticeable.
Single channel and dual channel are no different in ability unless you can manage to saturate the single channel bandwidth, in which case dual channel can show upto @ 20% performance increase. But without that saturation, they are equitable. That's when speeds and timings will play a role, a 1333 C7 is a hair faster than 1600 C9, but 1333 C8 is a hair slower than 1600 C9.
To be honest, I've never seen 6gb in dual channel, that'd be a 4Gb and 2Gb sticks, of which 2+2 would be in dual channel only with the remaining 2Gb (on the 4Gb stick) in single channel (flex mode)
This would make the single channel 4Gb 1600 faster still.
