I decided to pick up a 4k TV to use as a monitor for my PC. The TV supports 4k @ 60hz which would require HDMI 2.0 otherwise it would be 4k @ 30hz. I'm currently using on board video via the intel 4600 on my 4690k CPU so the best I can get is 4k @ 30hz. I don't use this machine for anything video intensive: just web browsing, HTPC duties, etc. The only gaming through the PC I think would be if I used the xbox app to stream my Xbox one (non-S) that is in a different room to it. So far 4k @ 30hz looks good, I had some flickering issues which apparently went away after I swapped out the HDMI cable. For my purposes, would I benefit in getting a video card that would allow me to do 4k @ 60hz or is 4k @ 30hz enough? It looks like the cheapest cards that have HDMI 2.0 would be something like a radeon rx 460 or a nvidia GTX 1050. Price wise I can get a GTX 1050 for about $120 and a RX 460 for about $80. Thanks in advance for your input!
