My current rig has the following specs as shown below. I am planning to upgrade my 1080 to the TI version and hopefully my PSU is still enough to power it and will probably also upgrade the 6700k to the new Coffee Lake 8800k when available. Am currently using the 32" Acer Predator 4k IPS monitor and am loving it (I moved from 1080P to 4K). I have never seen 2K resolution before and definitely have never owned any monitor higher than 60hz. I play mostly MMO games such as Guild Wars 2, Civilization 5 and occasionally PUBG. A friend of mine suggested I trade my 32" 4K monitor in for a 27" 2K 144hz monitor. Can I get some opinion on this?

CPU: Intel I7-6700K 4.00 GHz (stock clock)
GPU: ZOTAC GeForce GTX 1080 AMP Extreme
Mobo: Gigabyte GA-Z170X-UD5
Ram: Corsair Vengeance 16gb DDR4 3000mhz
PSU: XFX 550W Certified Bronze 80+
Monitor 1: Acer Predator XB321HK 32" 4K G-Sync IPS 60hz (Currently using)

Monitor 2: ASUS ROG SWIFT PG279Q 27" 2560x1440 IPS 165Hz 4ms G-SYNC (Thinking about getting)

I'd argue that if I put two monitors in front of you and asked which one was 60 and 144, both running rock solid max fps at the same resolution, you wouldn't be able to tell me. But if you have access to a monitor from a friend that you could play with, trying it for yourself is the best way to go.k I have a 1080p, 120 hz monitor and I don't even use it any more.

Nope, no way, no chance in H***. But it's personal preference really so no one can help you with that.

If you are someone that says they can see a significant difference between 60 fps and 144 fps then maybe.
I think size beats whatever small difference I see in 144 fps. A processor (cores) that helps smooth out low end average FPS to make 60 fps look smoother would be a better way to go in my opinion. Not that your 6700k is bad.

4k on a 1080 ti on Ultra is only going to get you about 60 fps anyway.

But look at my sig. and you'll see I already made the decision for myself.

The only thing is that I've never owned any monitor over 60hz so have no experience what the difference is like. I moved from 1080P to 4k and the different in resolution is night and day. I wonder if the difference between 60hz and 144hz is the same
