I'll lead off by telling u what I have, I have a ryzen 1700 with a 1080ti so I have enough to run 4K so I don't know if I should go that route or go the ultrawide route I really like the looks of ultra wide but I don't want to waste my graphics cards power so that the dilemma I'm facing my budget isn't super high either I don't really want to spend over 500$ if I can help it any suggestions are welcomed!

4k is not quite ready for prime time.

1. I would disagree that a 1080 Ti is enough for 4k

18% of the games in TPUs Game Test Suite can't break 45 fps at 4k
36% of the games in TPUs Game Test Suite can't break 60 fps at 4k
50% of the games in TPUs Game Test Suite can't break 70 fps at 4k
86% of the games in TPUs Game Test Suite can't break 76 fps at 4k
100% of the games in TPUs Game Test Suite can't break 91 fps at 4k

2. The world of 4k is in for a huge shakeup when the new AU Optronics 144 hz panels with HDR drop in 3 weeks. When that happens the resale value of all existing screens will drop in the toilet.

3. A quality 1440p IPS Gaming screen w/ G-Sync / ULMB screen is $700... For TN, that will be $500 price point for a 24"...

I don't know of any quality 4k displays under $500. Maybe there are, I haven't researched much. I just got me the new LG 43UD79 to serve double-duty for an HTPC display and occasional 4k video editing, and that was $680. At 1440p, there should be a bunch of pretty good high refresh rate offerings in that 400-600 range. You might be able to find a 1440p ultrawide in that budget, probably a refurb/recert though.
