4k displayport 1.2 to 4k HDMI 2.0 tv

If the issue is only with bandwidth, namely 8gbit for HDMI 1.4, then wouldn't a 4k signal from displayport 1.2 to a 4k tv equipped with HDMI 2.0 be ok with a standard adapter, since cables have no limitations, apparently? Has anyone tried this with a 4k HDMI 2.0 TV and achieved 60hz?

You are correct. Currently, the DisplayPort-to-HDMI adapters only support up to 4K @ 30Hz. What graphics card do you have? If you have one of the latest Nvidia cards, they come with an HDMI 2.0 port that fully supports 4K @ 60Hz. I know the GTX970 and GTX980 both support it. That means no converter cables would be required.

I've been waiting for Club-3d to release this for months, if anyone finds this online, please let me know since I'll need this for my new monitor upgrade.

EDIT: just realized this was for the mini displayport, what I need is the regular displayport.

I'm so glad I found this thread, I was almost convinced I'd need a GTX 960 for my new TV. Thank you! I'll just have to be patient for the time being.

You should get the Club 3D adapter, of course. It's the only one designed specifically to solve this 4K 60hz issue with non-HDMI 2.0 GPUs.

I ended up getting a GTX 960 because apparently my 560 Ti doesn't even have a display port of any version, so it was hopeless. Also, it's too old for 1080p gaming these days.

I by dumb luck found a way to get 4K@60Hz for my RCA 55" HDMI 2.0 input TV: http://www.microcenter.com/product/453009/LED55G65RQ_55_4K_Ultra_HD_LED_TV Any of my late model Nvidia or AMD graphics cards with HDMI output would do 4K@30Hz, but not 60Hz. I tried a Quadro K420 (entry level workstation card) and the Displayport to HDMI adapters did not work even at 4K@30Hz with this card. However, I plugged the RCA TV into the DL-DVI port on the K420 with a cheap passive DVI to HDMI adapter block, and presto, 4K@60Hz on the RCA TV! :bounce: I also confirmed this works with a Quadro K620.

Now if only I can get the same thing from other video cards with HDMI output, or Display Port as the OP asked.

I found out that the Quadro K420 is driving the RCA TV at 4K 60Hz, but with 4:2:2 color sub-sampling: http://www.geeks3d.com/20141203/how-to-quickly-check-the-chroma-subsampling-used-with-your-4k-uhd-tv/ For streaming video (movies, sports, etc) 4:2:2 or even 4:2:0 color sub-sampling is really perfectly fine. This is because the human eye has much more B&W detail than color detail, so it better use of bandwidth to provide more B&W than color. But for spreadsheet, word processing, programming work, etc. 4:2:2 or 4:2:0 can cause small color text to be unreadable; then again, 30Hz update is fine for normal computer work. I still have not found out if the RCA TV can do 4K 60Hz with 4:4:4 color. I have one of these 4K 60Hz DP to HDMI adapters on its way to me. I'll report my findings later.

the active adapter from club 3d for dp 1.2 to hdmi 2.0 with 4k 60hz support will be released this week you also may need to download the latest radeon drivers but there most certainly is http://www.club-3d.com/index.php/products/reader.en/product/displayport-12-to-hdmi-20-uhd-active-adapter.html

Ultra HDTV, a german 4K blog with own HDMI cables supporting 4K@60Hz did now released a DP 1.2 to HDMI 2.0 Adapter with 4K@60Hz support, HDCP 2.2 and 4:4:4 RGB, tested successfully in a german testlab:

Hello there! I just canceled the order..i just to read the latest opinion of a gamer who tried a R9 390 and only gives 4k30fps ... suspect is a lack of certification amd ... I do not think it's because of your TV LG ... that complicated all this ... thanks for your time

What i've read about 4K@60hz and 4:4:4 is it needs 18Gbps bandwith and what club-3d and accell says they support 18Gbps but they support 4K@60hz only on 4:2:0 which 8Gbps is enough. So if you use a driver that can show 4K@60hz 4:2:0 you can use a HDMI Cable and use the HDMI 1.4 port which is available almost all graphics cards. So accell and club-3d are lying or there's something that i don't know.

I'm hunting for a solution to this problem as well. I thought about just using a hdmi to DVI-d (cable part to PC) adapter. Would an adapter have to be HDMI2.0 compliant or would it use the properties of the DVI-D only ?
