27" UltraGear 4K UHD Nano IPS 1ms 144Hz G-Sync Compatible Gaming Monitor
EVGA RTX 3060
Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-8600K CPU @ 3.60GHz 3.60 GHz

The above are my current specs. I'm looking to upgrade my CPU to reach higher FPS on 4K. I've Google searched the best CPU to pair with the EVGA RTX 3060 and it looks like the AMD Ryzen works best. What is the best possible CPU to buy for 144fps on 4k? Is it even possible with my current GPU?

Solution
This is about 144fps MINIMUM, right?
The eSports field should have the most success there. The technology is just not there yet for overall high refresh 4K.
8m+ pixels is A LOT of work. 1440p and 1080p are 3.8m and 2m respectively.

I'm stumped as to why they would make a 4k 144hz gaming monitor if it wouldn't be possible to game in 4k at 144fps.
For awhile now, the pacing of hardware development has been ahead of software.
Development has been dragging behind due to time, money, and publishers being too focused on short term cash grabs.

By no card out there can do 4k 144hz do you mean GPUs or CPUs? Is it both GPUs and CPUs as if it is not currently possible at all? I'm stumped as to why they would make a 4k 144hz gaming monitor if it wouldn't be possible to game in 4k at 144fps. Maybe a multiple GPU configuration would be able to play 4k 144fps stable? This makes no sense to me but I'm sure it's definitely possible. Currently I mainly play Fornite in 4k on performance mode and get a stable 144fps. I'd like to be able to not play on performance mode all the time if I want the higher refresh rate feel in 4k. When I enable Ray Tracing my fps drops to around 60. I don't get why there are so many options if it's not stable.

The above are my current specs. I'm looking for 4k gaming with 144fps since my monitor supports it. I mostly play Fortnite and Star Wars Battlefront 2. I'm buying a better CPU for higher FPS. What is the best CPU for this?

You forgot to include the budget for your CPU purchase, your preferred site for purchase and your location, so we can help narrow down suggestion(s). Please include them. As for the CPU, you also forgot to mention the make and model of your PSU, the rams and the motherboard. Include them as well. We can move forward from there.

EVGA RTX 3060 GPU
Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-8600K CPU @ 3.60GHz 3.60 GHz
H370 Aorus Gaming 3 Wifi motherboard
2 vengeance rgb
Thermaltake smart RGB 700w power supply
5 RGB fans
and a big silver colored block-shaped unit attached to the motherboard that says "deep cool" with 8 copper stems sticking out which i'm not exactly sure what it is.
I'm located in Massachusetts I don't have a price range I want the best 4k gaming experience. 4k 144fps stabilized. Also would like to use Ray Tracing at a higher fps. The best scenario is 4k 144fps ultra settings with ray tracing enabled if that's even possible.

4k 144fps IS possible, but not with newer AAA titles even with a 3090.
Older titles and less demanding newer ones. I dnt know the titles that will do it, but I know some that wont without turning setting down from ultra or high
  1. Cyberpunk 2077
  2. Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020
  3. Assassin’s Creed Valhalla
  4. Halo Infinite
  5. Call of Duty: Warzone
  6. Forza Horizon 4
  7. Ghostrunner
  8. Dirt 5
  9. Grand Theft Auto V
  10. Red Dead Redemption 2

With a 3060 you wont get 144hz on much at 1080p with max settings in the AAA titles

My monitor is 4k 144hz I mostly play in 4k 1080p just looks plain awful now that i've gotten used to 4k. Since I have a high refresh rate monitor i'd like to max it out so I can get full use of it.

I was thinking of buying the Ryzen 7 5800x I heard it's the best for the EVGA RTX 3060... What psu should I get I don't know why it would make a difference, would it raise overall fps?
PSU wont make a gaming improvement beyond make the the PC stable and not crash.
Not all PSU brands are the same so you cant base your decision based on power rating alone.
The prebuilt PCs ship with low quality PSUs that cause crashes very often even when rated at 850 watts 80+ gold

Corsair
Seasonic
Silverstone
Be Quiet
Those are some good brands.
I have never had issues with Corsair and Im on my 3rd build with them
