I have a gtx 960 4gb gpu connected to 28" UE590 UHD Monitor via a display port, but when i try to watch youtube videos in 4k the picture either lags, buffers, or stops all together. This happens mostly in "Gameplay Walkthrough" videos, but for ordinary 4k videos it works fine. This issue, however, goes away once I lower the resolution to 1440p. So, is it my gpu thats at fault here? How can I solve this?

Solution
23 Mbp/s isn't really enough for 4k@60 FPS I believe. Also check your CPU usage when watching 4k@60fps, It's probably edging at 100% usage. It's difficult to run.

Yeah, I think watching it at 60 fps was the problem. When I watched a regular 4k video my monitor could handle it just fine. Oh, and also my internet is "20ping, 23 download speed, and 1.04 upload speed."

Google Chrome has an option called "hardware acceleration" that will take more load off the CPU and onto the GPU.
Settings - Scroll down to 'Advanced' - Scroll down to 'System' - Then turn on 'hardware acceleration'

Thanks! I was going nuts, wondering why I could play a game at 1080 windowed full screen, while youtube couldn't handle 1080 full screen, and kept pushing the quality down to even 360 🤯 Seems I had hardware acceleration turned off, and now it can run 4k full screen youtube with no problem now! I'm sure I had it turned off for some reason (maybe tabs were crashing when I moved them around, who knows 🤷‍♂️)
