I recently got a new computer after my old one crashed. i installed my old 750 ti that was in the last computer and updated the drivers. I plugged it into the same 4k tv my last computer was hooked up to. However, when i try to switch to 4k resolution (3840x2160p) I am met with a black screen until it switches back to 1080p.

please help and thanks in advance.

specs:
Windows 10
750 ti sc
i5 6400
8gb ram
1tb hdd

If you have a dedicated graphics card, that's how it's supposed to work for the intel graphics (disabled from motherboard when a graphics card is in). I highly suggest not enabling it, but it definitely is possible if you access the bios settings and enable onboard graphics

not sure what you mean. format of what? I am trying to use the same resolution i used on my old computer which is 3840x 2160p. I happen to know this is the specific resolution of my tv. Strangely enough i cant make 1440p or any resolution above 1080p work. The tv is a Changhong UD42YC5500UA.

ok so in nividia control panel it says hdmi hdtv, and its set to 30hz automatically when i switch to 3840x2160p. In device manager it is picked up as generic pnp monitor, which is also how my old computer registered it. Not sure if there is another way to switch the signal like your talking about, but those are the two ways i'm familiar with checking. Thank you for your fast responses.

Might need to do a clean install of the drivers again. Unless there's something different than before it should work with the settings you say you see.

UPDATED: ive done a clean reinstall of the nividia drivers. Tried changing resolution before and after clean install of new drivers, but was met with the same black screen.

orignal post:
ok I suspected it was either nividia drivers or windows 10 problem so i will do clean install of nividia drivers and get back to you. Also thought it was worth mentioning that i get no signal whatsoever, regardless of resolution, when i switch hdmi to the dedicated graphics in my cpu.

Ok so switching HDMI cables allowed me to go 4k for some reason. however i am still getting no signal whatsoever from my on board intel graphics. Not a huge deal since i dont really use it but strange none the less.

Thank you for all you help and quick responses

ok thanks, on my last computer i used to switch back and forth freely but i can see why they would implement this feature. Anyways thanks again for all the help. My day is going a lot better now!
