[SOLVED] 4k video lag

Hello everyone,

I have having issues playing 4k video on my pc,

Pc specs
CPU: Core I7 - 8700
Memory: 8GB RAM PC3000
Storage: SSD
Power Supply: 750W Gold
GPU: ROG STRIX RTX 2060S 8GB
Monitor: Viewsonic VX3276-2K 32" Frameless IPS Monitor (I know monitor is not 4k but normally video should be downgraded to 2k ?)

if i am not mistaken this solution is for trying to stream 4k video via VLC Player ??
my issue is when playing 4k or youtube via google chrome or playing a file stored on SSD

youtube is using AV1 codec, your GPU doesnt have AV1 hardware decoder, so performance relies by your CPU...
you have few options...upgrade CPU or upgrade GPU to atleast RTX 3000 serie (they support AV1) or reduce resolution


for file stored on drive...they are mostly in HEVC codec, make sure you have installed HEVC codec from microsoft store

How is your network speed? YouTube at 4K will stutter heavily on a poor connection. Also, are you trying to do anything else on your PC while watching videos?
