so ive been doing ALOT of research on 4k lately, and im curious wether or not 4k would look good in medium settings still...
I highly doubt it would look bad, as its 4k... but still, just checking before i spend £400 on a monitor...
I have a single R9 290 so i would only be getting like 30fps at ultra... so i want to reduce the settings to get playable frames...
I play battlefield 4 the most...
Thanks

4k with one card will be difficult. If you are like me and anything under 60fps average is unplayable(this differs person to person) then I would go ahead and spring for a 1440p IPS panel instead. It would look great and give you playable frame rates on high settings in most games. IMO 4k is not worth it yet. Once we can get one card that can get 60fps average on high to ultra settings then 4k would be viable.

However if you dont mind playing at 40-50 fps then 4k may be an option, but I still recommend 1440p.

Im not too sure what 50> fps will be like with me, as i do get quite annoyed if i get lag and i lose out on a kill for example...
But i think 1440p would be a waste, as i dont think its much of an upgrade from 1080p (im currently at 1050, but its identical)
Im just not sure on my choices, what about CF?

Well people seem to notice the difference and you end up with a bigger screen (27 inch). But if you're heart is set on 4k the 290 CF would be a recommended upgrade. Just make sure your PSU can handle CF and realize that it will result with more heat in your system.

In my personal experience, quality isn't derived directly from resolution, but more importantly from pixel density.
I believe that a 24'' 1080p wouldn't be too different from a 27'' 1440p. Pixel density would be quite close.
I'd get a 24'' 1440p, or go 4k.

I'm on my phone and u can't seem to find a reply button so I'll write your name and then my reply...
Tshaler: I thought you might say that hahaha, now just to find the money lol
Gamer1357:yeah I thought that would be the case... Think if I went down the 4k route I would have too
Anbello262is there such a thing as 24 inch 1440p? I don't think I've ever saw one of those, any links?

But overall thanks for the info as it has helped ease my mind a bit on my choices

I don't know, never investigated monitors D:
If it existed, it would be the thing I'd buy.
I've tested a 1080p 18.4'' monitor for a while (glossy finish, no anti-glare, 120dpi) and its sharpness was something I haven't been able to get over yet...
I've decided that I'm not gonna upgrade my monitor until I can get something with at least 120dpi, and 1440p 24'' would chieve just that.
Too bad if it doesn't exist ._.
