4x and 8x... Whats the difference...

Im getting a new R9600XT 128mb but my motherboard only supports 4x... Will i suffer any performance loss compared to a AGP 8x motherboard?
If i get a R9600PRO will it be more practical and a R9600XT on my setup?
My computer setup is a 1.4ghz AMD XP + 384DDR PC2100 ram... (128+256)

In most applications the bandwidth of 4X is not fully used, so 8X is overkill!
