Hey everyone,

I am currently looking at this unit right here to add to my computer tower:

I have a cooler master Haf X full tower case, and I do a lot of project studio things. I have all sorts of media cards and USB units that come in from clients for file transferring, and this unit would be pretty convenient to have.

I have all the proper options on my motherboard to connect everything, including the USB 3.0 pins for the 3.0 ports, and I believe I have SATA port open for the eSata port.

My question is, how does the fan control options work? I have 3 system fans connected to my board, plus a 4th that is powered by my power supply. How do you connect the fans to this unit in order to control them? Do the fans connect directly to the unit itself, or do you connected the unit to the system fan slots on the motherboard? Are there BIOS options that needs turned on or off for fan control? And which fans are recommended to have this unit control them? System fans, or CPU fan?

Thanks in advanced for any help.

Solution
As a fan controller, it can only handle 2 fans. In addition to that, these fans must be 4 pin PWM in ordered to be controlled. All you would have to do is plug the fans into the unit.

If I were you I would avoid a unit like this and just get a seperate card read/usb hub. The included fan controller is of low quality and the LCD screens are just a gimmick. If you really need a fan controller, just buy a dedicated one. If you just need that USB/card readers, get an external one.

FYI your motherboard can automatically control any 4 pin fan based on the system's temperature. Unless you're extreme overclocking, there's little point in a fan controller.

Solution
I went with a different media dashboard without fan control. I really want an internal one, as I already have 6 other USB devices connected on the outside of my case. An internal card reader will be a lot quicker for me and less cables running to my system.

Thanks for the reply.
