5 beeps on new motherboard

Solution
Since the cpu fits the socket you are fine there. The fact that the mobo beeps show some activity is a good thing.

I would take a look in the manual to find about the beep codes. Also i would install only one stick of memory (preferably the old ones that you know that are in working order)

If it is cpu related i would just try the 6300 in it and if that doesn't change anything i would return it.

You should read the motherboard manual. The five beeps are definitely an error code but until you read for yourself you won't really know. Start from there.

Even if the cpu is fine the problem could be power related.

Also good practice: post your system.
