Hi, I build my own PC and only used 250gb SSD, but I'm finding it too small,
I've been looking at a
Seagate 1TB FireCuda Gaming SATA 6Gb/s Flash Accelerated (8GB) Performance Hard Drive (ST1000LX015) ($60)
Vs a
Samsung 860 EVO 500GB 2.5 Inch SATA III Internal SSD (MZ-76E500B/AM) ($80)

I would most likely use it for amateur gaming like ARK or other big name single player games. I do not know which one would be best and if I should worry about RAID settings(I don't really understand what it is)?
Thanks

Solution
For gaming, the SSHD will be fine. Although SSD prices have come down quite a bit. You can find a suitable SSD for gaming that does not need to be a Samsung. A DRAM-less SSD is very cheap and will game just fine.

Here is a budget option that will work very well. I would not use it for a boot drive, it will run games fine. While the price per gb is still higher than the SSHD, it is getting close.

If you can increase the budget a little bit, by just biting the bullet or by waiting a little longer to add to it, this might be the better option giving you the best of both worlds. Those SSHD are are a waste in my opinion unless you are using them for frequent transfers of large amounts of data that needs to be kept backed up and need it to be a bit faster than a regular HDD. Mostly I think they are pointless, but that's more just my opinion than anything else.

FireCuda SSD don't give a significant improvement over the ssds.
As others have mentioned that ssd can be other samsung, you can get a good ssd for 70$ (500gb)....

Up until yesterday Bestbuy offered Sandisk Ultra 512gb ssd for 69$. We can expect good offers on SSD for the black friday sales.

Newegg is offering WD blue ssd 500gb for 69$ for 23rd Nov sale and Crucial 500gb MX500 for 73$
I think it's better to go for a good branded SSD, as they have better relaiblility and consistant performance and better endurance.

I have seen pretty band review for the other third party ssds, most them either failed or had a bad performance
Hope this helps
