500W PSU (s26113-e567-v50-02) for GTX 980

I have recently acquired a Fujitsu Celsius M730n, which,
like this user, has a 500W (s26113-e567-v50-02) PSU in it. It has one 6-pin PCI-e output on it. Does that mean that I need a new PSU if I want to power a modern graphics card such as a GTX 980, which requires 2x 8-pin supplies? It has been 10 years since I built a computer, so I am lost. Any help appreciated.

Hi, Heres a link to a pretty useful Power Supply Calculator that allows you to enter the specs of the PC you have/want to build and it will provide you with the Load wattage, meaning Wattage when under load for example gaming and the recommended PSU wattage to purchase to gain efficiency: https://outervision.com/power-supply-calculator.

As for the 2x 8pin dillema it might be worth buying a newer PSU tbh anyway since it is always good to have a reliable PSU when running high end graphics cards.

Thank you for your response. I had heard that using molex adaptors were a good way to start a fire. Is this true?

I beleive that is only molex to Sata but u may wanna check with someone as im not 100% sure.

I am by no means an expert on power supplies or even electricity (this may already be clear) but is it possible to work out what power is being output by the 6-pin pci-e port from the label. It has a cable attached with a 6-pin and an 8-pin, but I presume I can only use one of them? If I can use both, then problem solved.

Fujitsu tell me that I can use either the six OR the eight pin, not bother. Looks like I'll be getting a 1060 then. Thanks for the responses.
