Hi there, I’ve looked all around Google and here but can’t find anything that helps but I’m struggling to get my gigabyte 5090 to not only run properly but to also keep my computer from shutting down while under a sustained load.

My specs are Gigabyte 5090 windforce OC
Ryzen 7900x
32 GB 6000mhz
ROG 650-e motherboard
1300W EVGA 1300GT supernova.

In casual gaming it shuts down in random intervals. Heavy gaming is random as well. If I stress test it by using furmark or unigine superposition it will always shut off between 1 hour to 1 hour 30 minutes.

I was having this issue in my pc with my 5090. I had a Ryzen 9 9950x3D then upgraded to an I9-14900K and am still having issues.

Very odd. What driver version are you using? Supposedly nVidia fixed a lot of issues in the 576.02 drivers. But honestly, it sounds like a power issue. Can you try a different power supply?

what cable are you using to power the gpu

if your using the adapter you will need 4 seperate gpu cables coming from the psu

each 8 pin cable provides 150w. if you have 2 8 pins split at end of each cable you only use 1. per cable

Take a look at the Nvidia's driver feedback forum. It's filled with people who have the same kind of problems with their 5000 cards. And they are upset because they don't know if it's because of the awfull 572.xx/576.02 drivers or the cards themselves.

So you are in this situation. Maybe it's a driver issue, maybe not. You could try different driver versions (from 572.16) and see if there's one more stable for your system.

Could also be a RAM issue. What is your ram model and timing (32 GB 6000mhz doesn't say much)? Did you enable expo?

Also, according to what I can find about your PSU, it's not ATX 3.0 nor ATX 3.1. Are you using a 8-pin to 12V-2x6 adapter to power the card? If you do, I hope you are not daisy chaining any 8-pin cables (i. e. using two connectors on the same cable).

Why do you think going from a 9950X3D to a 14900k is an upgrade? Looks rather like a downgrade to me.
Well I’ll never know since with both pc’s I couldn’t get either of them to post. I still have the 9950x3D. I bought it for $650 which was a steal, not getting rid of that thing.
