My new system is booting up as 224 MB RAM instead of 512MB. I am running a Soltek SL-75MRN with an AMD 2500+. My RAM is Corsair XMS PC2700. Is there a setting in the Bios that would allow me to remedy this problem?

When I go into My Computer --> Properties, the RAM shows up as 224. When I go to System Information under Accessories, it shows up as 256MB. I've swapped both sets of RAM and it does not appear to be a RAM problem.

It's supposed to per the manual...by putting one DIMM into DIM3 and one DIMM in DIM2 (or DIM1). I assume Dual Bank DDR is the same thing as Dual Channel.

Just speculation here, maby somebody who has had this problem can correct me (I havn't) but what if one of your sticks was dead? I am assuming you have two sticks of 256mb. maby try borrowing 2 sticks of a friends ram and giving it a try, see what happens.
Like I said, I have no experience with this, but just a guess.

You're exactly right. I removed one stick and it didn't boot. I tried the other stick alone and it booting. Bad stick.

Thanks for your help!

It seems to me that 32MB missing is reserved for onboard AGP memory. Does your mobo have built-in graphic card?

 Good or Bad have no meaning at all, depends on what your point of view is.
