I'm on an Aurora R3, with 2660k and currently SLI 450 GTS. But I'm swapping the sh!t SLI and going with a 970. (970 is final, please no AMD fanboys coming in with their horsepucky). I can order a 875W PSU from from Dell for 150$ + the 350$ for the GPU. Would the 525W be enough? Do you think I'll have less FPS because the GPU won't be getting full power from the 525W and if so, is there anyway to test if I am?

I'd prefer not to spend another 150$ on the PSU but I'd rather that than have junk performance for my money.

Also, please just give me what YOU think. No "search" threads BS, because someone is always different than my setup so no thank you.

Thanks guys,

Here is Guru3D's power supply recommendation:

•GeForce GTX 970 or 980 - On your average system the card requires you to have a 500 Watt power supply unit.
•GeForce GTX 970 or 980 in 2-way SLI - On your average system the cards require you to have an 800 Watt power supply unit as minimum.

If you are going to overclock your GPU or processor, then we do recommend you purchase something with some more stamina.

If your current PSU could handle an SLI setup, it should be fine with a single 970. They are not exactly power hungry. 525W from a quality PSU is more than enough.
Also, if you did have a PSU which could not supply enough power, it wouldn't lower your system performance --your system would crash when it would try to draw more power than the PSU could supply.

Thank you. Sounds like I'm okay and if my system crashes, I'll order the 875.
