I am for the moent the proud owner of an AST with i486DX2 66, 16 RAM and 545 HDD. The lads in the computer-store says that if I by a CD for it probably won´t work since it´s too fast for the computer.

Another guy says it will work, it will lower its speed to what the platform can take...

The reason I´m thinking of this is that I will buy a new PC in which I can use this new CD in, but not for another two months and I need it to play Audio CD´s since my stereo f***ed up and to install Linux.

Thanks

I have used a 44x CD on a 486 so I see no problem with a 52x
It may be a little slower than it would be on a high powered PC but it should work

It should work, to an extent in terms of speed.
