Just today I upgraded my x51 r2 with a new sdd and gpu, while I was doing this since it was an older pc, I decided to go ahead and re-apply the thermal paste. It was my first time doing thermal paste, so I didn't wanna put to much and fry it. So I put some on, then screwed the sync in, took it back off to make sure it was a good healthy amount. Was that a mistake to check the thermal paste? Anyway, the thermal paste didn't cover the whole cpu, just the center. Now my idle temp is around 61c, and when I load a page it jumps to just under 70c and then goes back down. I haven't played any games yet because I wanna make sure this is safe before I really stress it. Thank you.
Update: I forgot to mention that everywhere I've read says this is pretty hot. This is why I'm skeptical. But normally everything runs warmer in the x51 anyway because of its size and lack of cooling.
2nd Update: I'm using msi afterburner to view temps
