hello. ive seen on youtube people buying $300 to $500 USD console killers, but i havent found anything that can perform well in the price range of under $550 dollars. ideally, i could get something for $400 AUD. i have no problem buying used.

Thanks in advance!

i would try and avoid those types of business desktops, they often don't recognise new gpu's. and updating the bios is a nightmare. if you got a really cheap one i'd take the ram and cpu out and put it into a 'new' gaming mobo.

if i were you i'd aim for a second hand i7 2600k, with a gtx 970 or r9 290x.

maybe something like this

although i'd add atleast 4gb ram - the gtx 780 you might be able to resell and replace with a 970. might also be able to lower the price if you dont need screen / keyboard mouse.

if you can spend a bit more this looks ok (without knowing all the parts)...

OK, fair enough because I don’t even have a 4K monitor (;... I was thinking more along the lines of 120 FPS+ on things like fortnite.

What type of deals could I get on gumtree? Should I look for a prebuilt and add a gpu?

Do you have a 120Hz monitor because if you don’t it won’t make any difference. Best bet for dirt cheap is finding a old 2nd-4th gen fell with 8GB Ram for under 200 Aussie and spending the rest on a GPU and maybe SSD. Watching for the PSU limit obvs. But even then not forced to hit over 60 maxed out.
