Hi,

I've posted a few days ago about this build/parts, and I've almost decided, but.... what about the psu? In the list there's a 650W psu but a 550W one would be good to, no?

I want to build this:

PCPartPicker part list

CPU: Intel Core i5-4590 3.3GHz Quad-Core Processor (€199.00)
CPUcooler Do I need one??
Motherboard: MSI H97 GAMING 3 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard (€99.00)
Memory: Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1600 Memory (€77.00)
Storage: Crucial MX100 128GB 2.5" Solid State Drive (€68.00) or 256GB
Storage: Seagate Barracuda 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive (€56.00) or 2-3TB
Video Card: MSI GeForce GTX 970 4GB Twin Frozr V Video Card (€372.00)
Case: Cooler Master 690 III ATX Mid Tower Case (€81.00)
Power Supply: Cooler Master VSM 650W 80+ Gold Certified Semi-Modular ATX Power Supply (€95.00) or a 550W psu???
Optical Drive: Asus DRW-24B1ST (€20.00) or something else...
Monitor: Asus VX248H 60Hz 24.0" Monitor (€149.00) or Iiyama ProLite E2483HS-B1 24" 2ms (€149,00). The former has a shiny frame (not to fond of that), the latter maybe has a not very stable stand (read that in 1 comment only), so I don't know yet. Suggestions?
Headphones: Kingston HyperX Cloud Headset (€94.00)
Total: €1310.00

I'm not thinking about sli or overclocking and maybe I'll just add a extra hdd or ssd and some more fans in the future.
So, should I choose a 650W or a 550W psu (or....)???? and why?

Thanks.

go with a quality 550W psu that should give u room to OC your GTX970

go for something made by seasonic or XFX Corsair Avoid VS/CX they use cheap capacitors and transformers

super flower also makes quality PSU and i think CM Vangaurd PSU's are good

A 550W PSU should be able to run the build - even if just barely. But if I were you, I would go with the 650W PSU you have chosen because there is no doubt about it being efficient enough and it should last for a long time. Getting a PSU with bigger wattage also helps in the future in case capacitor aging becomes a problem in the long run. It is not like you would save a lot of money by taking a 550W PSU instead so paying perhaps 10€ more for a little peace of mind is not much if you ask me.

I would personally go with the 650W one because it doesent cost much more and will futureprof your build more. You can even use it in future builds so you dont need to buy a new PSU then.
But otherwise, You should change the Cooler Master to the EVGA SuperNova G2 650W. It is regarded as the best 80+gold PSU in the market because of its phenomenal quality (100% Japanese capacitors). very nice sleeved cables and the double ball bearing quiet fans that don't even spin under 40C. Have one myself and I could never be any happier. Pricing-wise its not a huge difference. Definitely change the PSU.
